"Heavy-as-shit powerviolence from these guys. Members of Look Back And Laugh and Talk Is Poison, so this is a fucking awesome slab to add to anyone's mp3 collection (we all know you're not buying it, fucker). The Endless Blockade

"Primitive explodes in severely acidic rage. The album slabs together a mash of coarse power violence, splintering harsh noise, and commanding power electronics. The Endless Blockade evoke the loathsomeness of Man Is the Bastard and the throbbing fast-slow-fast construction of Crossed Out. In particular, the rasping blastbeats and rapid riffs in "Irrationalism Uberalles" share similarities with those of Crossed Out's "Crown of Thorns."With Scott Hull's mixing touch, Primitive breathes just enough. "Thick Skin, Transparent Blood" slows things down, opening with tasty, lumbering chords. Taps on the snare warn of imminent attack; guitars then spew their guts through projectile vomiting." Outbreak

Emerging out of the quiet, peaceful state of Maine in 2002, Outbreak has proven to be anything but the generalizations made about the state in which they began. They play fast, they play loud, and they have a reputation for an explosive live show. Or as simply as Alternative Press has described Outbreak: "fast, furious, and absolutely unrelenting".

Black Elk

"The second album by Portland's Black Elk comes from a familiar enough starting point -- namely, there's something about loud guitars and aggressive yowling that will always please somebody, somewhere. Given how thoroughly any number of putatively different sounds and styles that match that description have essentially cross-fertilized into one monstrous leviathan of music, it comes as little surprise that Black Elk are almost a post-everything band -- they use lumbering metal, frenetic no wave rampages, epic solos, and distorted art noise, and that's just in the opening song "My Last Shred of Decency." But if Black Elk are still arguably working towards their own sound, they're doing so with panache -- and it doesn't hurt that they've got a full appreciation of the classic '80s thrash and power metal they pretty obviously grew up on. Hearing the spiraling solos and chunky riffs on songs like the fierce as hell "Pig Crazy," helped by the excellent recording quality throughout the album, complements rather than works against singer Tom Glose's rasped rampage. Meanwhile, the fact that the album ends on a perfectly melodramatic note with the ever-more-intense performance of "Winter Formal" cutting off suddenly to silence further shows the band's sense of how to leave a maximum impact behind. At this rate the group's next album should be a spectacular breakthrough." Ned Ragget @ all music guide

Riff Cannon

Gotta love this band name. Riff Cannon come from Boston, Massachusetts and play sludgy stoner/doom with some post-rock ambients.
"
......Riff Cannon create similarly killer, Sabbathian sludge......I was honestly left craving more from this quartet, so strong is the material here........Strong and memorable composition.......with varied, solid influences such as Electric Wizard and Thin Lizzy, what’s there not to like? "

"Ten years of relentless mayhem has long pointed (with two fingers in the air) to this crystalline moment: the debut album by Gainesville thrash historians Asshole Parade! "Embers" is 21 tracks of circle pit-inducing thrashy hardcore bordering on powerviolence with those smart and clever lyrics they have become known for. Manic, urgent hardcore blazes and smokes from every angle, felling all pit barons with a tangle of legs, downing all airborne crowd pirates with human flack! 21 songs for the love of all things fastcore! As reported in their label’s page, the band is tagged as “vintage black metal” and is specialized in “violently thrashing, ultra chaotic, on-the-verge-of-losing-control, over saturated, super distorted and noisy, “true” black metal, fast and furious to occasional midtempo breakdown and a once-in-a-while doomy dirge.”

Totalt Jävla Mörker

Totalt Jävla Mörker (Total Fucking Darkness) is a Swedish crust/hardcore punk band, formed in Skellefteå, Sweden in 1996.

The hardcore punk band Bitter End, also from this town, had just broken up and some of the members (Anders, Fredrik and Tompa) decided to keep playing together. They were not especially good musicians or even interested in music, but it was rather the social conditions that kept them playing together. The idea of their new band was to scream louder and play more raw than they did in Bitter End. The line up was Anders (vocals), Tompa (Guitar), Fredrik (drums).

Master Musicians of Bukkake - Totem One

"Master Musicians Of Bukkake’s newest record and part of a Northwest trilogy, Totem One marks an evolution from their first record “Visible Sign Of the Invisible order." MMOB has now solidified into a 7 piece cosmic psyche force. Like a reverse dark side of the New Age sound, on the Totem series Master Musicians of Bukkake perform ritualistic electric excursions into the outer and inner reaches. Relying more on the electric power of psyched guitars, analog synth chants, and exotic heavy percussion, Totem one echos with the delusions of a West Coast Death cult. Outer spaced Gamelan, dusty fuzz rock from celestial deserts, meditations of a deranged Krishna gathering, and the Blurry acoustic guitar majesty of The Cascade mountains all reveal themselves here in epic form On Totem One. Every sound and note played was put to tape by a group with a singular purging purpose. Totem one also features Vocals By MMOB honorary member Alan Bishop of the Sun City Girls." - Conspiracy

Holland's Blood I Bleed started off right after My Minds Mine quit in 2002. In 2003 their first self titled 7" EP was released and in the following years several split 7"s (Unholy Grave,Under Pressure) followed. In between those recordings, BIB did many gigs troughout Holland, Belgium, Germany, Czech Republic.

She Said Destroy

Unlike the name might suggest, She Said Destroy is not a metalcore/deathcore band. This is a band from Norway and their sound, not being very original, is quite unique. Drawing influences from noise rock, thrash, death metal and black metal alike, this unit has through both live performances and recorded material been prying the eyes and ears of whoever crosses their path open. One of my favourite records in the death metal genre, each music is different, I can't get bored of this one.

Colossamite

"Colossamite was a mid-to-late 1990's mathrock band based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They were one of the most prominent exponents of the genre. Colossamite's members included Nick Sakes (vocals, electric guitar), Ed Rodriguez (electric guitar), John Dietrich (electric guitar), and Chad Popple (drum set); the group had no bass player.

Rather than relying, as most heavy metal bands, on guitar distortion to produce an intense sound, Colossamite instead often relied on very loud "clean" (undistorted) guitars, played dissonantly, in conjunction with vocals that were screamed rather than sung. Songs featured jarring shifts in tempo and mood, with the overall sound being extremely raw, heavy and often slow..." Taken from wikipedia

This is one of those bands you either like or you don't. With me it was love at first listen. This music is so captivating. Beautiful and ugly at the same time, it's like a dream and a nightmare all together. If you're into weird/smart stuff you should really check them out.

The EP is very good but more linear. More easy listening. I recommend listening to it first as a preparation for the album, which is pleasantly disconcerting. By far one of the most geniusly composed albums I ever heard.

Regurgitate

Ok lets get dirty. Regurgitate started out in 1990 with the following members: Rikard Jansson - vox / Mats Nordrup - guitar. Mats also played drums in Crematory (from Sweden, not the one from Germany) and General Surgery. They mixed old school grindcore, gore/porn themes, a sick sense of humour and pitched vocals to create the most brutal and twisted grindcore ever made. Basing most of their career on the release of splits with acts such as Cripple Bastards, Suppository and Noisear among many others, they are today one of the most influential bands in the genre.

Their second full length, Carnivorous Erection (2000), marked a new step for this band. Recorded in a great studio and with the best songs written to that date, produced by the swedish legend Mieszko Talarczyk (Nasum). Relapse released the CD in November that year with cover art by Wes Benscoter that raised quite a few eyebrows. It was banned from the stores in Germany, for instance. The CD got a lot of great reviews from magazines all over the world including one of the biggest morning papers in Sweden (Svenska Dagbladet).

Disrupt

Disrupt is a anarchist crust punk and grindcore band from Lynn, Massachusetts. Focusing in themes like police brutality, religion and politics this band has gained the cult status and became one of the best crust/grind bands (one of my personal favorites). Their line up suffered many changes trough time and the only all time member was Jay Stiles (vocals). They broke up after a tour in 1993 due to musicals diferences.

Taking influence from early crust and grind bands (like Discharge, Anti-Cimex and Napalm Death), Disrupt created Unrest. A vicious crust assault that never gets your tired. Definitly a classic in my book.

Infest

"Infest was an influential American hardcore band, formed in September 1986 by Joe Denunzio, Matt Domino, Dave Ring and Chris Clift. They disbanded in 1996. Infest, while not coining the term powerviolence, were pioneers of the style.

Joe Denunzio’s vocals exhibited angst, with lyrical content about conformity, war, scene politics and socio-political issues, mostly delivered in an accusational assault. Straight Edge was an influence in Infest's songwriting, with such songs as 'Mindless'. Infest did however differ from their peers in their fervent political stance and imagery, often depicting the tragedies of war and poverty, countering the obligatory "band in action" album covers common to the era." Taken from Wikipedia

This has to be one of the most "angry" records ever! Powerviolence is no doubt the perfect term to describe what happens in No Man's Slave. 15min. of (very) fast paced songs. Sounds like the vocals is mad at you or something and he's gonna kick your fuckin'ass. Then it ends with a slow (kinda sludgy) song but the guy is still fucking pissed. Amazing CD.

Windmills by the Ocean is a project born in Boston formed by members within the ranks of Isis, Red Sparowes, 27 and Anodyne. This first and only release, a five track self-titled album, was recorded back in August 2003 but it only saw the light of day three years later by the hands of Robotic Empire. Expect an instrumental and atmospheric adventure ranging from post-rock to sludge, doom and even drone.

Windmills By The Ocean

Doom

Doom were a crust punk band from Birmingham, England, which were together from 1987 to 1990. Despite its short existence, the band is considered pivotal in the rise of crust punk, a style within the punk rock subgenre that fuses extreme metal with anarcho-punk. They are considered early precursors of grindcore (Mick Harris (Napalm Death, Scorn, etc) was part of the band for a short time).

Their first record, War Crimes (Inhuman Beings) came out in February 1988 through Peaceville Records. 21 tracks of pure crust punk as aggressive as it gets. Short and straight forward lyrics, raw grunts, d-beat, neck breaking riffs, what else do you want? Without doubt a mark on crust's history.

These Swedish fellows split up after the release of Kollapse (2001), 1 of the most breathtaking, mysterious albums I have heard.
